Two Ships Passed

Two Ships Passed was painted in mid-August, inspired by a walk along Lake Michigan in Chicago. It was a cloudy day, and the darkness lingered a bit as it had rained the night before and into the early morning. I most enjoy walking on these kinds of days, where no one is around, and I get the lake all to myself. It is a rare treasure. As I walked, I saw two ships in the distance pass each other by in this vast, empty space. The sky blended into the water, and it looked as if they were floating. It seemed as though I was in a dream for just a brief moment.
